Our company brochure
In our company brochure you will find everything about our company, services and coolers - compact and inspiring in a nutshell.
A holistic approach to the environment and energy efficiency
Since our foundation in 1991, ritter & bader GmbH, manufacturer of
machine cooling and enclosure climate control systems, has continuously optimized its processes and products in terms of sustainability and energy efficiency. The consistent integration of advanced technologies and environmentally friendly practices shows how we as a company can reduce our ecological footprint and at the same time create economic added value.
Investments in structural energy efficiency
A central element of ritter & bader's sustainability strategy was the extensive refurbishment of the company buildings, which was expertly assessed by Energy Consulting from Kempten.
This renovation included the refurbishment of 2,000 m² of roof area and the replacement of 50 windows, saving 8,000 liters of heating oil per year. In addition, the entrance area was renovated this year with triple glazing. The renovation of the lighting in the warehouse and assembly areas began in September 2023 and was completed in 2024.
Renewable energy sources and their use
ritter & bader GmbH has invested in a high-performance photovoltaic system, which has been installed on the south-facing roof areas. This system feeds all the electricity generated into the public grid. An additional 45 kW was added to the roof for the company's own consumption. A further expansion is currently being planned.
Combined heat and power plants and innovative cooling solutions
An important pillar of energy management at ritter & bader are the seven combined heat and power plants, which produce not only heat but also electricity. These decentralized plants enable a flexible response to fuel price fluctuations and increase the company's energy self-sufficiency. In addition, an ice storage facility supports energy efficiency by storing cold, which is then used efficiently during peak load times.
Focus on electromobility
Another step towards sustainable mobility is the purchase of three electric cars and two hybrid vehicles, which are used for business trips. These vehicles, which are charged overnight with self-generated electricity, not only reduce pollutant emissions, but also serve as a visible sign of ritter & bader's ecological commitment.
Charging stations are also available, which can be used by visitors with electric cars.
Summary
Our CHP units generated around 71,000 kWh of electricity in 2013. At a purchase price of around € 0.19/kWh net, this relieves our electricity budget by around € 13,490 per year. With a purchase price of around €18,000 per CHP unit, a new system pays for itself every 1.33 years. In addition, there are refunds on mineral oil tax and savings on chimney maintenance, as no chimney is required. With the expected price increases for electricity, heating oil and gas, these systems become more economical from year to year. There are special subsidy programs and leasing offers for financing CHP units.
By operating the CHP units, emissions of approx. 40,000 kg ofCO2 weresaved per year.
Our energy requirements have doubled since 2008. Nevertheless, we have been able to reduce the consumption of heating oil from 40,000 liters per year to currently 19,500 liters per year plus approx. 10,000 liters of liquid gas by purchasing the CHP units. With a calorific value of 1.30 liters of propane gas per liter of heating oil, this corresponds to a calorific value of approx. 7,700 liters of heating oil. Calculated in heating oil, this results in a total consumption of approx. 27,200 liters.
Our solar system was put into operation at the end of 2009 and produces around 60 to 70,000 kWh of electricity per year. This has prevented a total of 1,200 tons ofCO2 emissions since 2010.
Our electric car saves 1,500 liters of fuel per year because it runs on self-generated electricity.
A total of 130,000 kWh of electricity is generated per year, approx. 70,000 kWh by the CHP and a further 60,000 kWh by the solar system. Our current total requirement is around 100,000 kWh.
Since the solar thermal system was commissioned in 2018, 45 MWh of heat has been stored and supplied to the test benches, reducing the consumption of heating oil and liquid gas.
ritter & bader GmbH currently employs 40 people, who generated a turnover of € 11,000,000 in 2018.
